It is the purpose of TORKS to be a not for profit organization formed to promote interest in model aviation, to maintain a field for flying, to organize and promote flying contests, to promote the interests of its members, and to be a chartered club of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA).
Torks members, Spring has sprung. Hope y’all had a good building season and are ready to begin flying season. It’s shaping up to be a good one at Torks. As y’all know, we need to reseal the runway this year so we’re gonna try to do that relatively early so we can enjoy the nice smooth runway. Unfortunately, that is a major drain on club funds to the tune of almost $10,000. Some of you have donated to the runway fund and we thank you for that. Anyone else that would like to donate to the runway fund please do so as that will certainly help. Note, you can do that with PayPal on the TORKS website. In addition, we’re hoping to have an event or two this year to make some money for the runway. We’ve already got the sanction in and approved for EJets and EWarbirds this year in our normal September time slot and will be looking for ideas from each of you on how to make it a little more profitable than it has been in the past. I’ve been talking with our neighbors up north, the Westerville club and looks like we’re going to have a joint fun fly competition with them and maybe a third club, Corks, which oughta be lots of fun. In addition we’d like to have a members only event and bring out our families and just enjoy the day. Of course, most of us can’t wait to fly and show off our latest creations with good friends!
